Cr8tive FireChat Series Ignites Minds and Sparks Bold Conversations on World Creativity & Innovation Day

In a remarkable celebration of World Creativity and Innovation Day, the Cr8tive FireChat Series, powered by La’Deva in partnership with the Creative Economy Practice by CCHub, brought together some of Nigeria’s most inspiring minds in storytelling, media, and technology. The event, curated and convened by Godwin Okhawere (GodwinJP), created a much-needed space for young creatives to connect, engage, and envision a future powered by authentic African narratives.

Hosted at CCHub, Yaba, the FireChat Series was a vibrant mix of TED-style talks, interactive games, and honest conversations that struck a chord with every creative in the room. The event was anchored around the theme of “Positioning African Creatives for Global Relevance,” drawing attention to the rising importance of storytelling in shaping perception and driving cultural influence.
Three phenomenal mentors, Adeoyin Okuboyejo, CEO, Taeps Animation Studios; Roberta Orioma, Producer, Grind; and Uduak Obong Patrick, Director, The Masked King, lit up the room with thought-provoking talks on the power of cultural storytelling, representation, and the evolving role of technology, including AI, in creative ecosystems.
Each mentor brought their unique lens: Adeoyin challenged creatives to adapt and embrace AI while preserving the soul of African storytelling. Roberta passionately advocated for authentic representation and the need for diverse voices in global media, while Uduak encouraged boldness in telling stories that resonate locally but travel globally.
According to Adeoyin Okuboyejo, CEO, Taeps Animation Studios, “The message is clear: Nigeria’s creative economy is brimming with potential, but it needs intentional support. From policymakers to private sector stakeholders, there is a pressing need to invest in platforms, partnerships, and people that empower young creatives to thrive.”
“Creativity isn’t just entertainment, it’s economy, identity, and legacy. We must build systems that nurture, celebrate, and export our stories to the world,” said Godwin Okhawere, convener of the Cr8tive FireChat Series.
One of the high points of the event was an interactive game session that tested attendees’ knowledge of trends and the movie industry in an electrifying quiz-style challenge. The winner, selected based on speed and accuracy, was celebrated and rewarded by the event’s convener, GodwinJP, further reinforcing the spirit of recognition and support for creative brilliance.
