Comms hangout debuts in partnership with PR Hub NG: AI and workplace transformation take centre stage
The maiden edition of Comms Hangout, hosted in collaboration with PR Hub NG, convened leading professionals across the marketing communications industry for an engaging dialogue on emerging trends, workplace dynamics, and the future of Public Relations (PR).
The event featured insightful discussions on strategic campaign successes, overcoming industry challenges, and the transformative role of technology.
Participants reaffirmed the resilience of PR professionals as problem-solvers who consistently deliver on business objectives despite operational hurdles.
Discussing trends for 2026, the team unanimously agreed that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be the most significant trend to watch in the year. While AI is not entirely new, having long been embedded in software engineering. The difference today is its mass adoption across industries.

Contrary to fears, AI will not replace PR and Marketing Communications (MarCom) professionals but will enhance their work, making processes more efficient and flexible. The emphasis remains on maintaining originality by guiding AI-generated inputs. Just as social media transformed the media landscape and introduced influencer marketing, AI is poised to deliver another wave of transformation for the industry.
To maximize AI’s potential, professionals are encouraged to pursue specialized courses, such as AI Prompt Management on Coursera, similar to how digital marketing education was embraced in previous years. However, caution was raised regarding copyright concerns, which could become a major issue as AI usage proliferates.
“The future of communications is collaborative and tech-driven. AI is not here to replace us, it’s here to empower us. Our role as professionals is to stay informed, guide its use responsibly, and continue delivering authentic, impactful work,” said Kenneth Adejumoh, Founder, The Comms Series, and Convener of The Comms Hangout.
On education and workplace dynamism, the forum also called for AI integration into educational curricula from elementary levels to promote responsible usage. Additionally, discussions highlighted the impact of generational diversity in the workplace, cutting across Baby Boomers, Millennials, and Gen Z. The fusion of the three generations will be transformative to the workplace impacting corporate culture and organizational ethics. The team urged companies that want to win should be deliberate to study and adapt to these dynamics.
Attendees concluded by urging PR and MarCom professionals to be intentional about collaboration and to build alliances beyond the corporate table, fostering stronger industry networks.
