Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria Launches Twin-Tower Campus Facility in Abuja
The Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria (IHVN) has launched its state-of-the-art twin-tower campus facility at a well-attended Abuja event attracting dignitaries from within and outside the country. The momentous occasion marks a significant milestone in the Institute’s commitment to advancing research, education, and healthcare in the field of virology.
The new twin-tower campus demonstrates IHVN’s commitment to tackling the urgent problems caused by infectious illnesses and enhancing public health in Nigeria and elsewhere. The campus will act as a centre for ground-breaking research, training the next generation of virologists, and providing top-notch healthcare services thanks to its state-of-the-art facilities and resources.
The Chairman, Board of Directors, Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria Prof. Emeritus Umaru Shehu, CFR represented at the event said, “This occasion is bringing us together to remind us that in all parts of Nigeria North, East, West, and South, the challenge of accessing quality health care delivery is the same, and it requires the intervention of our people, communities, governments at various levels, and international partners to improve the quality of our healthcare services. From your faces and the magnificence of this edifice, it is obvious that we have come a long way. So, the commissioning of the IHVN Campus gives us hope that we can curb today’s emerging diseases of public health concern.”
Speaking at the launch the Chief Executive Officer, of the Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria, Dr. Patrick Dakum said, ” Today, as we officially open the seven-story edifice beside us. With this, we mark the completion of the first phase of the project. The first phase consists of the International Research Center of Excellence (IRCE), administrative offices for both the headquarters and Federal Capital Territory and lettable spaces. This is a significant step towards strengthening our country’s capacity to respond to infectious diseases. This state-of-the-art facility will undoubtedly contribute to the advancement of research, training, and healthcare delivery in Nigeria.”
The campus will function as a top-notch centre for education and training in addition to research through its educational programs, IHVN is dedicated to fostering the next group of virologists, epidemiologists, and public health specialists. “The new campus will offer a welcoming setting for students to study with renowned faculty members, gain practical experience in cutting-edge labs, and take part in international partnerships,” Dakum said.
